“ I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

                                                     Abraham Lincoln
Reflection:

You must remain true to what you believe in.  You can’t be guaranteed that you will succeed all the time, you shall be ready to lose but at the same time the opposite may occur. No matter what it is you have faith in in you shall stay true to what it is that you believe. For example, in soccer. I go for America (the team) when it comes to soccer. Whether they win or lose I will always be their fan. If they lose, oh well better luck next time but I won’t change teams because they lost. I stay true and determined to what I go for.
                April Fool’s Day
April fools is the first day of April, as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. It is a western tradition. It has been celebrated since the middle ages. April Fools' Day, sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are undefined. Some see it as a celebration connected to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar. Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year's Day on or around April 1. It strictly follows the vernal equinox (March 20th or March 21st.) In medieval times, much of Europe celebrated March 25, the Feast of Annunciation, as the start of the New Year. It is fun to do but has a certain limit because anyone can get hurt. People enjoy this day and have a great day fooling others.

“I trust that my hard work will pay off.”

                                                                                                Tyler Haws
Reflection:
What we work for is what we earn and get. For example our grades, if we get good grades and take our time to do certain things at some point they will affect us in our future. The good grades we have earned will help us get accepted into the college we want to go to. They will have a positive/good effect on us and our future. Also just like Tyler, hard work will pay off sports wise. If you make time to practice a certain sport you are in to get better and better at it, results will then occur. People can contact you, and make your dream to star in that sport true. Our future depends on our hard work.

He was born in San Diego but lived most his life in Long Beach. His name was to be Jesus Jose Iglesias according to his dad but because his dad wasn’t around when he was born his mom named him Gabriel Iglecias and changed the “s” to a “c” in order to mess with his father. His mother took up the responsibility and raised Gabriel, although she doesn’t get his jokes he loves her so much.  He very known for his coin starring catch phrase, “I’m not fat… I’m fluffy.” In 2000, he appeared in season 6 of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, co-starring with Amanda Bynes and Nick Cannon. In 2007, Iglesias voiced an entire Mexican family in "Padre de Familia", a sixth season episode of the Fox TV animated comedy Family Guy. That same year, he began voicing a recurring set of identical twin characters on The Emperor's New School; a Disney animated series that he describes as his favorite voice work. Iglesias was a contestant on the fourth season of reality TV series Last Comic Standing in 2006, surviving elimination to become one of the final eight comics. In 2011, Comedy Central debuted Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution, a standup showcase series which Iglesias produces and hosts. Hector SaldaƱa of the San Antonio Express-News praised Iglesias and the other comedian he assembled for the show, calling it "one of the all-time funniest comedy package tours" and Iglesias a "comedy genius”. Iglesias has currently hosted/co-hosted six episodes of Equals Three, more than any other guest. Iglesias made a guest appearance on the YouTube show Epic Meal Time in the April 3, 2012 episode "Fast Food Fluffy Cake". “True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what’s right.”

                                                                                Brigham Young
Reflection:

When you choose the right you get great benefits. You can have freedom when you choose to do what is right. An example being if you disobey your parents they can forbid you from going out because you didn’t do what is right. Or you can lose doing a certain thing because of your wrong way of behaving. There’s a chance you can sneak out or such but, is it really considered liberty if you did what you weren’t supposed to? As Young states, by doing what is right you can earn true independence and freedom.
                St. Patrick’s Day
St.Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures. Saint Patrick’s Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick’s Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide. It is celebrated on March 17 because it is said that is when St. Patrick died.

“They’re only truly great who are truly good.”

                                                                                George Chapman
Reflection:

Once cannot be remembered to be truly great if they didn’t remain choosing the right throughout their life. If they did what was right and stayed that way no matter what situation they are put on. A person can be considered truly good by following the ruled.

“Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn’t. In addition, using
steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater. Don’t do it.”

George Mitchell
Reflection:

People cheat because they find it being an easier way/ Shortcut to life. They all want to succeed and be better than others but at the end all this is worth nothing. It’s better for us to do better and succeed choosing the right rather than choosing the wrong. We have to be determined to do a certain thing the right way. Doing the right thing will allow your conscious to be at peace rather than not to be. Cheating can seem good at that certain point but at some time it will backfire negatively, maybe even changing your drastically.

                                “I won’t cheat”

                                                                                Dale Murphy
Reflection:

This quote may be only 3 words but has very deep meaning to it. Cheating is an act of choosing the wrong which isn’t okay. If you cheat throughout life at some point it’s going to hit you that you didn’t do that right thing to do, which is what you should’ve done in the first place. Saying “I won’t cheat” goes towards any situation in life. For example in a test, when you find money, in a relationship, etc. cheating isn’t necessary in life. Telling the truth and doing an honest act is choosing the right.

                                “Character Matters Most”

                                                                    Dale Murphy
Reflection:

It’s virtuous to have a positive character. People with such character tend to be more happy and out-front in life.  Having a respectable character will take you the right way with a worthy path in front of you. If you have a corrupt character big chance you might not get far in life.

Summary: Mitch
Mitch was a freshman when he decided that he had to make his dad ,who was dying of cancer, proud. In his mind he thought that by winning the wrestling championship his dad would forget about his cancer at least for a bit. Mitch wasn't guaranteed that his dad would still be alive the next year so he was determined to win the wrestling championship as a freshman. He went to the gym and worked out even when he didn't have practice just to work on his body in order to be ready. He won his first wrestling match, followed by another then another leading to the championship. All he had to do was to pin his opponent down and he did. he won the championship to make his dad proud. His dad was more than thrilled and was really happy for his son. Mitch had accomplished, his dad for that while had forgotten he had cancer.
“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and
truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”
                Benjamin Franklin
Reflection:

If you don’t have a good heart but have many other things, is it really worth it? Beauty or strength doesn’t help you out in important ways. What good is being beautiful if you don’t have a good heart? Why do you want to have strength if your mind isn’t set to choose the right? For example, many people say that rich people are usually filthy rich with nothing to spend money on but are deep down alone. The greed of riches leads to bad things and can leave you by yourself. You can have little to nothing but with an unlimited heart you have a lot. People who have more riches than others, believe that they are more and usually don’t have as many friends, mainly because they are so selfish and don’t have the best heart.
