“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

                                                                                Thomas Carlyle
Reflection:

Set a goal in life. Have several goals to aim for. If you have no goal what are you specifically aiming for? Are you aiming for anything in life? For example when using a gun one must aim somewhere in order to succeed in their purpose. Same here, in order to be able to say “I made it” make sure to have goals set.  A ship without a rudder can go anywhere; a person without goals has nowhere much to go. Make sure to set your goals. Goals lead you to success and that is what many people are in search for. It may not be easy, but setting goals will get you somewhere in life that you will be very glad of when you reach.

If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion: if there beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.

Reflection:

The six pillars represent the main things character is made out of. I have been living the six pillars throughout the 16 years of my life therefore don’t see the point of making a commitment to fill full them if I know I already do.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”

                                                Sophocles
Reflection:

There’s no excuse in cheating. For example in a test, if you cheat, yeah you’re probably going to pass but would it feel right? One past that certain assignment because you cheated. If you get a good grade, good for you; but you didn’t earn it. It may feel good in the moment but your conscious will always be there reminding you, you chose the wrong. It’s better to fail with honor knowing you tried rather than winning by cheating.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values.”

                                                                                Dennis Prager
Reflection:

Good values are very important. It isn’t the most important thing we can have in my perspective, but it is important. Some may think money is more important, but is it really? I mean yeah you get to buy anything you want but what about your values? It’s always better to keep that in mind rather than something so foolish.

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong”

                                                                                Wilford Woodruff
Reflection:

What’s the point in doing the wrong? We don’t gain anything either way, yet again you may gain the opposite. Choosing the wrong is profound to lead to negative consequence, which isn’t good. So, why choose the wrong? Always stick to choosing the right. Choosing the right will lead to a positive consequence in which would make one feel better.

Video reflection:

Mr. Morgan works in an airport and when he was on duty he found an iPad with 13k in the case. He returned the iPad with the money to the authority and it got returned to the owner. The owner gave him 60 dollars in reward thankful for Patrick’s honesty and character. Patrick, instead of keeping that $60, he gave 30 dollars to a homeless lady and the rest to a coworker. His boss then rewarded him with $625, his good deed not going unnoticed.
“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), Integrity, and self-esteem.”

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Reflection:

Doing what is right is a life style. There is no physical reward to give for someone choosing the right. It’s more of a rewarding feeling one has after doing what is right. When someone does a good deed it makes them feel good about themselves, more useful and handy. it makes us feel better about ourselves because we know we chose the right.

Video Reflection:
Drinking and driving has always been told to us that it is bad. Eric Smallridge's story is living proof of that statement. He had been driving drunk and caused an accident. Lisa and Megan are the two girls that were in the car when he crashed into them. They died instantly. Renee had made sure Eric got what he deserved for killing them both in an unconscious state. Eric had received 22 years in jail. Renee had then spoke to the judge to cut Eric's sentence in half because she had forgave him. In order for her to move on and such she felt she had to forgive him. forgiving him she accepted what had happened. Renee felt that the only way to cure her injury in her heart she had to forgive him.
When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”

Reflection:

This quote can be interpreted many ways. I interpret it emotionally rather than physically. Everyone makes mistakes that have affected a person negatively. The person could’ve stayed mad at the other person but they can’t hold a grudge forever. If they really want to get better they have to be able to accept what happened and forgive the person. But because they forgave the person it doesn’t mean they have to talk to them ever again. The thought that you don’t have to hold a grudge against them will let you be in peace. In order to recover from that injury that really affected you, you have to be able to forgive them.
