President’s Day
Monday February 16
President’s
day is every third Monday in February. It was originally on February 22, George
Washington’s birthday but was change to every third Monday in order for workers
to have more days off. Presidents’ Day is now universally seen as a day to
celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present. A way to show honor and respect
on president’s day is to show off the United States flag in front of your home.
The day honors past presidents of the USA. In the weeks or days leading up to
the holiday, schools often organize events and lessons for students about the
presidents of the United States and George Washington in particular. A good way
to show honor to the past presidents and the current president is by taking a
moment of silence.
